Unhappy XB9S not shifting at all. Please help!

2003 XB9S with 44k miles. Just bought. PO said it wasn't shifting. His mechanic told him it was a messed up shift pawl. He gave me a good used shift pawl and gasket (plus other spares) with the bike. He told me he's selling it because he needs the money bad, and his mechanic's shop caught fire.

Just took off the primary, stator cover, clutch basket, and the existing shift pawl looks undamaged. Can't move the gear selector manually.

    Here's a video of where I'm at:

This is my first time working on a Harley engine (done a lot of foreign engines).

Am I missing something obvious, or is the transmission messed up requiring cracking the case?

Sir: Saw your vid. The shift lever assembly is part #6 in the service manual schematic. It is what engages and moves the shifter cam assembly which is #5 in same. If the shifter cam assembly is locked up as yours appears to be your only hope is to try and rotate in the clockwise direction the front belt pulley in attempt to "rock" the transmission out of gear. Don't force it. If that fails to unlock the cam assembly then the cases will have to be split. In all likelihood you have 1 or more damaged shift forks which have locked themselves in place onto the cam assembly.

That is your shift drum. If it won't turn, then yes theres som ting wong with the shift forks, rods, or gear sets them selves

I have had luck using a small endoscope camera that bluetooths to my phone, stuck in the breather to see whats what and if it's worth saving.
