Thread: Hawk Performance Mufflers!!!

  1. #21
So how loud or deep sounding is it? I'm considering either this or the Jardine. The noise of the Jardine doesn't bother me considering how many straight-pipe Harleys we have here on-base, but the Hawk muffler looks near-stock, and would have an easier time passing inspection, etc.

Keith: I can tell you that Randy (Hawk) purchased his bike with a Jardine on in. It was his inspiration to design a better pipe. He likened the sound to a 350 Chevy or Mustang with Flowmaster mufflers on it so I guess that means deep? And I got the impression that his are a bit quieter than the Jardine but not quiet either.

He's working on a pipe for me right now!

If I were you. I'd call him directly and discuss your concerns with him. He's a straight shooter and will tell you the truth whether it benefits him or not.

    Good luck whatever you decide!!

I emailed him, and unfortunately he doesn't have any spares, so he can't cross-ship. I'd either have to wait until winter or try to buy someone's stock muffler.

I'll probably just wait and then go with the Hawk one when the time's right.

Here's a sneak peek at my Hawk Pipe! Keep in mind that this is a cell phone pic. Also...There's some black stuff on the polished tip (3 1/4" diameter :D ) that Randy put there to protect it during welding. It will come off.

Better pics and sound clips to come! I can't wait!!

I don't know. It's in the mail to me right now, but from talking to Randy about his design, It's sort of an open design with "baffle walls" like Flowmaster does. No packing to replace or anything like that. If I can tell anything more when I get it, I'll let you know...

I just had a great conversation with Randy. He is going to do my muffler, send it to me, and not accept any payment till I have it installed and am happy with it. He also said he does the Cheese Grator mods for the cost of shipping.

    Superman:

It is a great deal...Not sure if I mentioned it before or not but Randy includes ECMspy and Buell race maps with his pipes free of charge. You'll just have to get the cable.
