You may want to contact JTS Performance. They are able to tune the 08 and 09s using directlink I believe.
Mike from xopti said that if you have a 09, you should buy a 09 xb9 ECM because they are easier to tune.
Have found bits and pieces of tuning info for the late models in other threads, but would like to start a new topic for the 08-09 bike owners to pipe in. The late model DDFI 3 seem to be a different animal and tuning info for these bikes is kind of foggy. Feedback from owners that have had success or failures with Spy, Direct Link, or piggy back systems.

I have an 08 12XBScg and it had an ECM with a mid 07 firmware date. When plugged into ECMSpy, everything was there and the maps were correctable. My recent trip to the dealer for a firmware upgrade resulted in them changing the whole ECM. I now have a mid 09 date on the firmware and when hooked up ECMSpy, almost all data is mixed up. Even columns and rows heading do not make sense.
Several folks have mentioned this fact on this forum, but my desire to get the new fan management program in the firmware update, got the best of me.
I went up to JTS last week. They can dyno-tune the '08s and '09s with directlink. By far the most helpful and knowledgeable Buell tuning guys around.Originally Posted by dave_xb12r
it seems for the 09 Directlink is the best way to go and dealers use it.
