I guess I forgot to mention that mine is an 04 12R. I didnt realize later models used different finishes.
I am going to have jet hot do my headers over the winter. They can do silver, which is the polished aluminum look, and and few other colors. The can also do colors over the standard polished finished. That is what I am going to do hoping it gives a polished blue look. I have a thrust blue Uly.
How much is that?
Fine emery cloth, then steel wool dipped in Brasso! Buff it up with a soft cloth. Worked a treat on my '07 headers. Doesn't gleam like chrome, but it does get rid of all the "bluing" and looks really cool after a couple of weeks, as it turns almost a copper color! Just about to do it again, ready for the end of season here in Vancouver, BC.

I haven't gotten an estimate yet. I have to call the Jet Hot dealer in Granbury, TX where I am going to have it done. Will post it when I do. Like I said, waiting till the winter to have it done.
I have (half) polished my headers with some abrasive pads. Don't cost a thing. They don't get colored anymore, just a little brown tan, but no more blue colors.
This is what I mean by abrasive mats.
