Huh, I just looked at a parts fiche; there are four cams?! Wow, a 16v four would need 32 cams?
Okay, okay, JK.
Got it.
Damn. They saw me coming. I paid 10 for my red back in April.
Can't really complain though. I paid what I expected to pay. Got the red for the price of the black. It is hard be a cold bargainer when you wear your Buell heart on your sleeve.
Every day during the Rider's Edge class I was in there ogling the Buells.
Betsy and Joe are great instructors. Though Betsy is a lot cuter

4 cams for a 16valve V4. Inline 4 would have 2 cams, if memory serves correctly. I am not an mechanic.
It was just a joke, sorry; commenting that four valves needed four cams.
the motors are a twin cam sportster overhead valve not overhead cam. i think the sportster stoped using single cam in 95 or somthing ill have to check with my dad on that one
I didn't see an answer on the difference in the cam cover. In the newer version of the engine has an updated oil pump, that's the difference you see in the sides of the engine.
And apparently you can put an updated oil pump and cam cover on the older bikes.
sportsters have had 4 cams all the way back to the k model. the later oil pumps are higher volume and run off the crank not #2 cam as previous models.
I found a "FAQ" kind of document that said the new oil pump was not backward compatible. There was also a change (from 2007-2008) in the oil lines and oil cooler. Neat document HERE. It goes over all the changes for '07-'08.
thanks for the site,Baal. Its the most complete breakdown ive seen
