Sorry to rais a old thread but for future referanse for any one else the dirtions above are wrong. You gotta expand the cable djustment nuts, than remove the nut around the adjustment screw than turn the screw counter clock wise not clockwise.

Agreed, I've been messing with my clutch for the last week and haven't been able to dial it in to that nice stiff, snappy, feel. Feels like it takes forever to engage and yes the direction clockwise is wrong, it should be counter clockwise, but I'm still not sure how much to dial it in. Any suggestion, the service manual wasn't as clear as i'd like it to be. Thanks Guys

Just curious on the fluid level line in figure 1-21 above, is this the correct level on a kick stand or when vertical using a rear stand? does anyone know?

I have been forced to make many adjustments trying to dial my clutch in, and each time you pull the primary cover, you lose a little primary fluid so I wanted to top it off to ensure proper primary fluid levels.

    Thanks,

    Richard

Thats when the bike is upright not on a rear stand, have someone sit on it while you fill/ check it.

Or put a 2x4 under the kickstand.

    :)

I posted this on another clutch thread, but I found this video on adjusting the clutch. I spent two days messing with mine trying to get it right before finding this video. Took 15-20 minutes after following this video to a T.

Thought I would share it on this thread as well. Thanks to whom ever made this DIY.

Thanks bolt! I just had no previous experience with adjusting the clutch so it took the guesswork out of it.

gatorbuell..you have the pressure plate screw backwards. you turn it OUT or counter-clockwise until firm, then IN or clockwise 1/4 turn or thereabouts.
