better to be safe than sorry!
I took my passenger foot pegs/brackets off. On another site somewhere I read that you need to put the four big hex bolts back to hold other pieces on. In looking at it briefly I can't see where those bolt hold anything else in place, but I didn't take off the plastic to look under it.
Do these bolts need to be put back into place?

What bike do you have? If its a lightning no you dont need to put them back in. I have had mine out for 2 years now. Im not sure about the Firebolts.
I thought you needed 2 of the four to hold ur battery bracket which would be the back 2
I have a firebolt.
this an '03 but the same,,,
based on that diagram, i say it holds nothing else.
hmmm yep mine is an 04 lightning and the back bolts go through my battery bracket ... so disregaurd for firbolt i guess
I took mine out with a Lightning tail and it didnt matter at all, I say leave them off.
just tapped blocks on rear frame as shown in diagram above. no need to put the bolts back in unless you do not want any dirt or debris to get into the open hole. I removed my brackets and put the bolts back in since they are really not that visible and I don't want anything to get into the threads just in case I choose to put them back on in the future:)
