since you said it came on after you washed it and you only have 1k miles... i would lean more towards an electrical issue.
I have a 03 xb9sl just had the 1000 mile service done at the dealer, put a high flow filter in, and moved from illinois to colorado (can you say altitude?) right after i washed it i took it for a ride and the oil light came on, i took it to the dealer and they foung nothing wrong, of course the light didnt come on for them, then it came on again today, after about 5 miles both times. any ideas on what this might be? oil is full and is HD non syn

I pulled off the sensor and sure enough it had gunk all over it, I dont think it was sealed correctly, havent had a problem since
