It's been a while, but I could shape the scoops with an anvil and a dolly and spoon set(my dad was a blacksmith, so I'm partially trained in the metallurgical arts). Let me know if you need help.
Probably will leave itAny ideas on the chin fairing yet?
covering the actual scoops with aluminum would look hotThe air scoops and oil cooler scoop you mean? That would be a bitchI'd go a step beyond that. MAKE the side scoops out of aluminum. You'd probably need an English wheel to really do that right though.

If you two work that out and make it happen, PLEASE post up pics during the construction. That would make for a SICK addition to the build.
If you want some rivets installed, let me know. If you live in SoCal you can come by and use my aviation tools and install them yourself.
Very original...screw the haters. Keep your project posted here.
I'm up in Norcal, pop rivets will do though...If I put any.
The new tail is only an inch longer than my stock tail
And this is a P-51 tail and rudder, I traced it off of my R/C nitro plane. Now I just have to scan it at work and shrink it down to the right size
keep it up! i would bet ALOT of money that at ANY speed crosswinds will not be any more of a problem with the tiny fin on the back than it was bone stock. Good work on the taller windscreen as well.
If you can rivet some of the pieces together(or even if they don't hold anything) it would add to the old warbird appearance.
Don't forget this ...
