Thread: 1125 fuel economy

  1. #11
Thanks for the great responses guys! I've been trying to decide whether or not to keep my lightning insured and licensed while I have the CR to ride, now I think I had better use it for my primary commuter vehicle. I think I am going to assume the CR will get high 20's to low 30's with my riding style. Trips around here tend to be ten miles between towns and only a few miles between stop signs, not conducive to good fuel economy.

Well, I'm up to nearly 400 miles. The computer says I am averaging 32 MPG and my trip meter calculations pretty well confirm that. Every day it seems to be getting better. With the first tank I rarely saw an instant over 30mpg and it got worse as I sped up above 55, now I am seeing high 40's on the instant. I'm pretty happy with it.

I normally get about 150 to 175 before the gas light comes on. Probably would get better if half the tank didn't piss out of the vent tube.

Checked my average readout on the way home today... 27mpg

Just out of break in (850 miles or so). I've been averaging 29 mpg on the dash. Not been riding for economy yet. I'm expecting better when I switch back to synthetic oil and start running constant revs in cruise. It's all been relatively cold weather mileage too so far.

Just ran the local flood run, lots of idle time and stopping to park every ten miles or so. Averaged 36mpg by the trip meter, average on display reads 34. I'm still glad I prepared myself for the drop, if I'd been on my XB12 I would have averaged 50. I love the larger frame on the 1125, it gives me around 200 miles range.
