Use the video posted here. I was able to get the bike to idle after replacing that hose. I probably need to clean the spark plugs again after cleaning the gunk out of the TB.

You do know what color the coils are supposed to be, right ?
The motor is probably going to be out of my XB tomorrow night. Really all that is left is the 2 isolator bolts and I’m just going to drop the motor using my floor motorcycle jack and lift the fuel tank/frame/fork/front wheel off over the top.

Unless there are pictures, It never happened !
Ok, everyone... let hear your guesses to what’s actually going on with my engine. The big reveal is going to be tomorrow with pics and all. What do you think the noise is?
Mike lowery - crank
Njloco - bad lifter
Me - crank
Cooter - crank
Barrett- piston slap

Wouldn't the crank be more of a thumping sound ?
I kind of thought that too, but the noise seems to disappear for a second when you rev the motor. Usually piston slap gets worse as you rev the motor.
I pulled the primary off a couple nights ago, and rotated the motor over with the spark plugs out. I rotate to the TDC so the rod is still pushing the piston upward then quickly rotate it backwards. If there is a sloppy wrist pin or especially lower bearing, you'll feel a clunk as the rod reverses its motion. I couldnt feel it this time, but my breaker bar had some slop in it, and since the motor was in the frame I had a hard time verifying I was at TDC. I think I was, but it was hard to tell.
What do you think is going on? Let’s see who has the keenest ear.

Shes peeking out from the bottom.

I actually grabbed the bike by the seat rails, lifted up and forward and rolled the frame forward away from the motor. Easy peasy. I'll probably make a stand this weekend to hold the frame upright and more securely.
