Have a 2008 Buell Blast P3
It will start and run OK, but it will not shift into gear. Anybody have a idea what it may be?? There was some work done on the bike a year ago.

HI Vic, and welcome to the forum.

The shift pawl is what rotates the shift drum when you move the shifter lever up and down. Google: "Buell Blast shift pawl adjustment". Theres a few YouTube vids on it.
Take the primary cover off and look at it while moving the shifter, see if its engaging.

The manual also has pictures of the inside so you know what your looking for:
